Health & well-being

Providing the best protection and start to life for our shelter animals.

Each shelter animal is de-sexed prior to being put up for adoption. This not only reduces the number of unwanted animals being born in Fiji, but has additional health benefits including:

Reduced risk of several cancers
Reduction of sexually transmitted diseases
Reduces roaming and therefore the chance of injury due to abuse, baiting or car accidents (all of which are far more common in Fiji than developed countries).

Each shelter kitten and cat is vaccinated against Feline Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia viruses. Each puppy and dog is vaccinaged against Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza, Hepatitis (Adenovirus 1) and Parvovirus Vaccine (MLV), which stops the spread of disease within the shelter.
